Summaries:

The book started with the letters which Jonathan writes to his girlfriend telling her about his trip to Transylavania and the strange man called Count Dracula who is his client. The events were stranger every day: Count Dracula did not appear until the evening, there are a lot of rooms locked in the castle, everything is misterious and so on. One day, Jonathan got into the Count´s bedroom and found some boxes. In one of them, the count lay.

The Count did not allow him to go away and the situation was worse when he learned that he knew his secret. When he could escape and came back home in London he was very shocked and he did not want to tell Mina anything about what had happended. However, all everything changed when strange things started to happen, like the death of Mina´s best friend Lucy. With the help of some characters: Dr. Seward, Arthur Holmwood (Lucy´s husband), Quincy Morris and Dr. Van Helsing, they started to investigate it and they found out that Count Dracula, who was a vampire, was in London. So they had to find out the way to kill him. Once they knew how to do it (destroying his boxes and driving a knife into his chest), Count Dracula ran away to his castle in Transylvania and they had to persue run after him. Finally, and after overcoming all type of difficulties, they got to kill him in spite of the death of Mr. Morris.

Chapter by chapter:

Chapter 1

Jonathan is a young lawyer who is engaged to Mina, a young teacher. He has to go to Transylvania to finish a business with Count Dracula. When Jonathan arrives in Transylvania, everything is very strange: the Count lives alone in a big and old castle in the mountains, everybody is frightened of the Count, the wolves obey orders from Dracula, ...

Chapter 2

Jonathan starts to be afraid in the castle for several reasons: there are not mirrors anywhere, he always eats alone because he never sees the Count eat(ing) or drink(ing).  For these reasons, Jonathan tries to get out of the castle but all the doors are closed. He realizes that he is a prisoner in the castle.

Chapter 3

The Count leaves the castle and Jonathan decides to explore it. Finally, he finds an open door and goes into a new room. Jonathan feels asleep in this room and when he wakes up, there are 3 young women in the room. They are vampires and he feels both, fear and attraction to them. The Count avoids the women biting Jonathan's neck to drink his blood. Dracula says to the women that Jonathan belongs to him.

Chapter 4

After a month in the castle, Jonathan is very frightened and he thinks the Count will kill him.

A group of Slovaks comes to the castle with some huge boxes and Jonathan tries to give them a letter for his girlfriend Mina. But, later, the Slovaks give the letter to the Count. His last hope of escape from the castle disappears.

Jonathan realizes he has never seen the Count during the day and, with daylight, he decides to climb in through the Count's window and look for the key to the main door.

Chapter 5

Draculas's face is pale and the Count is not breathing. Moreover, Dracula's eyes are open and his lips are as red as usual. Jonathan is terrified.

 Opinions:

-Hello everybody!!!

I finished reading Dracula last wednesday and I have to say that I liked it a lot. The most important reason to choose this book is because it´s very short, it has 120 pages, more or less. It doesn´t mean that I don´t like reading (because I love it), it´s just that I don´t have the time to read a longer book.

The second reason is that I love Dracula´s story. I saw Dracula´s film a few months ago, and I would like to read the original novel of Bram Stoker, but I think it will have to be in Spanish (and in summer), because I don´t think I will be able of doing to do it in English.

I think I wouldn´t change anything, because the story and the vocabulary are quite easy, and the topic is very interesting, al least for people who like fantasy novels.

Finally, I recommend it to everyone who likes reading and wants to spend some time with a "horror" story of the most frightening count in the world.

- Hi!

I read Dracula last Christmas. I decided to read it because, you know, there are some books which are very famous, everybody Knows them and you know their plot but you have not read them. And then, you are curious about it because they must to be good to be so well known.

I liked it and I find it easy to read. it was interesting because all the book is told by different narrators. Moreover, they do it through their diaries.

I recommend this book to you and I encourage you to read it but, maybe, you should read the original version. I suppose it will be much better. I will probably do it one day, now, I have to finish with the school books!!!

My review: What would I change?

-First of all, I have to say that I cannot make a good review about it because I have not read the original version by Bram Stocker by the fact this is only an adaptation.

I would change some things, of course,  some parts of the book are boring and I did not like the way they kill Dracula. I think it was too easy taking into account that his powers can transport him wherever he wants.

My favourite character was Van Helsing because he found out the way to kill Dracula. Moreover, I would have liked him to go out with Mina (because I think he is in love with her) if she had not married Jonathan. I think they have a special connection and there is chemistry between them.
